About me:

I was born, raised, and still thriving on the beautiful island of Oʻahu. Growing up surrounded by breathtaking scenery made it easy to fall in love with photography. My passion began when I was 10 years old, after receiving the best Christmas gift I could’ve asked for — my very first camera. It definitely wasn’t top-of-the-line, but from that moment on, I rarely put it down. I brought it everywhere; if I was there, my camera was too.

As I grew older, my relationship with photography had its own ups and downs. There were seasons when I barely picked up a camera and others when I couldn’t imagine doing anything else. But in 2020, in 2022, I took a leap of faith and left my full-time job to follow that calling and build this dream.

The name Soul Sarah was inspired partly by my love for the movie Soul Surfer and the story of Bethany Hamilton. But more than anything, it reflects who I am and how I approach my work. I believe photography should have soul. I also grew up in the era of family scrapbooks, flipping through pages of tiny 4×6 photos that somehow held entire memories inside them. Looking at those images always made me feel like I was stepping right back into the moment. That “soulful” feeling stuck with me.

Soul Sarah Photography is about creating family heirlooms. I want your photos to be more than digital files; I want them to make you feel like you’re stepping right back into the moment.

I’m incredibly grateful for where this journey has taken me, and for every story I’ve had the honor of documenting along the way.
